What is a seismic retrofit, and does my home need one?expand_more

A seismic retrofit strengthens your home's connection to its foundation so it can better withstand an earthquake, usually by bolting the frame down and bracing the cripple walls. Older homes, especially those built before the 1980s, are the most likely to need one and the most likely to benefit. Given where we live in Northern California, it's one of the smartest investments you can make in your home's safety.

How much does structural work cost?expand_more

Most structural projects fall into three ranges: minor repairs like floor leveling and crawl space work run from $25,000 to $50,000, mid-level work such as seismic upgrades and load-bearing wall removal lands around $50,000 to $100,000, and major reconstruction or extensive foundation work starts at $100,000 and climbs with complexity.
