Lermaxx Builders was founded on a familiar frustration: too many homeowners hire a contractor and end up with construction labor instead of an actual partner. Vague estimates, spotty communication, and no one clearly in charge. We started this company to be the opposite of that.

From the beginning, Lermaxx was built to operate as a professionally managed company. That means written scopes of work, documented selections, formal change orders, honest scheduling, and disciplined tracking on every dollar of your project. You get experienced construction leadership paired with the organization and accountability most homeowners assume they're getting but rarely do.

In 2026, we stepped into a new stage of growth, investing in modern project-management technology and refined systems designed to make every step of your project clear. Today we build whole home remodels, additions, ADUs, kitchens, bathrooms, and more for homeowners across Northern California, one well-run project at a time.

Owner

Leighton is the owner of Lermaxx Builders, leading the company’s strategy, operations, and growth. As an attorney, entrepreneur, and real estate professional, he brings substantial experience in contracts, negotiations, risk management, and business development.

Working alongside Lermaxx’s construction team, Leighton promotes careful planning, clear communication, and financial discipline on every project. He is committed to building a trusted regional design-build company known for integrity, accountability, quality craftsmanship, and an exceptional client experience. Outside of work, Leighton is a devoted husband and father.

Ricardo Morales

Co-Founder

Twenty-four years in construction, and Ricardo still knows what's behind the drywall before anyone opens it.

He came up in a family of builders and learned the trade the long way — on jobsites, before he was old enough to be on the payroll. Today he leads the production side of Lermaxx Builders, overseeing the project managers who run the company's remodels, additions, ADUs, and structural work across Northern California. He built that team the way he was taught: hire people who tell homeowners the truth, catch problems early, and finish what they said they'd finish.

He and his wife are raising two kids, which he calls the only project with no completion date.

Montes

Client Coordinator

Sara Montes serves as Lermaxx Builders’ Client Coordinator, ensuring every client enjoys a smooth, organized, and personalized experience from the very first conversation. With a background in Political Science and professional experience in client relations and intake coordination, she brings strong communication, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for helping people navigate every step of their project with confidence.

Dedicated to building lasting relationships, Sara is committed to providing responsive support and clear communication, making each client’s experience as seamless and stress-free as possible.

Our Design-Build Process

1 | Plan

We start with a conversation about your goals, budget, and timeline, then visit your property to see the space firsthand. From there, you get a detailed written scope and honest estimate, so you know exactly what you're getting before any work begins. 

2 | Prepare

Once you approve the scope, we handle the groundwork that keeps construction on track. We finalize the contract, coordinate any design, engineering, and permits your project needs, and line up schedules, subcontractors, and materials before we build. 

3 | Build

Our crew builds to the approved scope with quality materials, a clean jobsite, and daily communication. We finish with a walkthrough, punch list, and full documentation, and hand you a completed space that's ready to enjoy.
